Created by the Polis-Schutz family, the people behind the Bluemountain.com e-card website, Starfall.com is a great resource for educators and parents looking to help kids learn to read. The online site is completely free, a gift from the Polis-Schutz family, a family “passionate about making the world a better place.” The site has sections titled ABCs, Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read and I’m Reading. Each section is targeted at a different reading level and uses audio and animation to teach basic reading skills.
The online lessons are supplemented by printed materials which can be downloaded in PDF format, also for free. If you prefer, you can also order pre-printed materials through the Starfall online store, where you’ll also find additional printed materials which echo the lessons learned online. All in all, it looks like a great tool to help children discover reading.
